Detailed Description

A Sycamore tree, often called an American plane tree or buttonwood tree, can grow to a massive size and grows in riparian and wetland areas. Sycamore wood has a rather plain appearance with some flecks. However, when the wood becomes spalted it becomes quite attractive. Spalted wood is wood that is in the process of rotting and has a bunch of fungi in the wood. The fungi makes lines pen-like black lines, in Sycamore, and results in some wild looking figure.
