Detailed Description

Brain Coral refers to corals that have a spheroid shape and grooves which look like a brain. This type of coral grows in shallow warm water coral reefs. Fossil Brain Coral is from the Pleistocene era and is technically a rock. Since the beginning of the 1st millennium, coral has been highly prized as a gem because it was believed to have mysterious, powerful and sacred properties. This particular piece of Fossil Brain Coral is black with grayish and white brain-like figure and has cracks/crevices for additional character.

The Spalted Ash came from a saw mill in South-Central Pennsylvania. This particular saw mill owner collects unique one-of-a-kind pieces of wild looking woods. This piece of Spalted Ash has nice swirly black pen-line spalt which makes it provides a nice contrast to the Fossil Brain Coral.
