CHRISTIAN CRAFT

Portrait Series No.7 // Christian Craft

1. What is your current occupation or profession?
Recently self-employed, after 16 years in advertising. I built, and then opened, a small retail space focusing on local business here in San Antonio, called the San Antonio Yacht Club @sayachtclub_

2. Where were you born or what are your original roots?
Born here in San Antonio, Texas but spent the first six years of my life in Cuernavaca, Mexico where most of my family is from.

3. What are some of your interests or passions in life?
I gravitate towards things with long histories, like vintage cars and watches. Learning details and stories about objects that maybe on the surface seem materialistic. But older objects have character, and have a past that you can see in all the dings and scratches they earned along the way - that really interests me. Physically I’m all about water. Rivers, lakes, oceans. I love to jump in a cold body of water.

4. Do you have a favorite travel destination or a place you call home away from home?
I have a good amount of close family in a few parts of Mexico, and I traveled there often for months at a time. Specifically Puerto Vallarta holds some really nice core memories for me. I’d consider it a home away from home.

5. What is a piece of advice or life lesson you hold onto?
Be persistent and always ask questions.

6. Are there any particular goals or aspirations you are working towards?
I’m focused on being a good Dad at the moment. I’m working towards building spaces where good memories can be had - for my family and others as well.

7. Are there specific BEXAR Goods products that you have found to particularly appealing or useful in your daily life?
The watch straps for obvious reasons. The porter is basically part of my anatomy at this point, it’s gone through years of travel, work, and about 10 pounds of paperwork to be able to get stuff done with the City of San Antonio.
